Response to John McCain's Remarks Regarding Germany's Chancellor Schroeder

2/10/2003 - Olympia, Wa.

Today, John McCain repeated his assertion that Germany's Chancellor Schroeder used Anti-Americanism as a ploy to win his last election.

I would like to remind Senator McCain that a Democratic Government is charged with the responsibility of representing the will of the citizens, and it is irresponsible to consider that it is the responsbility of citizens to take on the will of a leader who defies and mocks the United Nations, and demonizes the leaders of other nations because they do not agree with the Bush Administration's policy of global domination.

When Chancellor Schroeder chose to oppose war in Iraq based on representating the will of the German people, he should have been applauded for his responsiveness to the citizens of that country.

Instead, as with France, as George Bush has stated, you're either with us or against us. Bush's stance is what is dividing this nation and the world.  That stance is not an expression of justice or Democracy.

Senator McCain's stance toward other nations, in support of George Bush, provides further evidence that this administration has orchestrated its ulterior motives into actions that they will not admit to because they know it would be rejected by informed people.

They would prefer to generate a world of hostility and divisive poltics rather than operate in good faith as they seek to control the oil supplies of this planet.
