I built this web site myself not so much to display my lack of graphic design abilities
but to give you a chance to understand my thinking behind the issues, how that affects my
conclusions, as well as to give you a chance to know me a little more as a person.
At some point in the very near future, I'll turn web site maintenance over to someone
else. But, by doing it myself, I can be sure that what is written here about my opinions
and ideas are my own, and not smoothed over or made more politically correct by
professional writers and editors. (Don't get me wrong, I think writers and editors
are great).
But, since part of what I stand for is having citizens really understand what
candidates stand for, I decided I wanted to show some faith in America's willingness to
hear it straight.. like having a talk with a friend over coffee.
The only thing I actually concede in this campaign is that no one knows who I am.
This is my way of having A Conversation With America.
In the coming months, I'll do all the usual things: issue press releases, give you
campaign news and such, but I have another project that's important to me.
I want to do what I can to allow Americans from all over the country to talk to each
other, compare notes, and re-discover that what someone wants in Los Angeles is not so
different than what people want in Seattle or Boston or Tampa or Des Moines. That'll be a
great part of the section I call "On the Road".
I'll also be doing a report called "Cut To the Chase", which is really
nothing more than me voicing my opinions on the week's events, or as events require.
I plan to use a great deal of multi-media so that when you've heard that I said
something on the news, the complete statement and story will be found on this site.
And, I'm very interested in receiving questions from you. I'll do my best to answer
questions about the issues, and post them to the site. That's the kind of conversation
that I believe is very important.
Please keep in mind, throughout these materials, that I have a very dry sense of humor
that is difficult to suppress at times when writing or talking about things... no
apologies for that at all. You'll get used to it. Everybody does. :} When you do,
it'll all be a bit more fun.
But no matter what, whether joking around about issues or just making fun of myself or
something else, please don't think it means I don't take the election process or the work
of government lightly: I would not waste your time doing this if I didn't believe in what
I'm doing and that the things I am proposing weren't possible.
If you have some ideas, questions or would like to help, please contact me/us at your
earliest convenience.
I look forward to working with you to Create the Future of this country. We have
the opportunity to make this world everything we've said that we've always wanted it to
be.
That's not a dream, it's a commitment. I hope you'll share that commitment with me.
This web site is only the beginning.
