Dear Kenny -
It's so hard... I start listening to music, and I have things to say to
nearly everyone :} Especially you fascinating Montessori
types (that's a good thing).
Anyway... I told Lou Dobbs... or maybe it was just in my weblogs, that I
always wanted to do 1 song in front of 5,000 people at the Greek in L.A., afterward, I
would - let's just say - do a little change of my pants - just for the fun of scaring the
heck out of myself.
I also told him/them that if I ever did it, I basically wanted to look
like you. :} You've done so many concerts for so long, you probably wouldn't remember
this... but...
Way back in the late 70's, I had a little company called Pelican
Promotions. We did disco shows at the Coconut Grove in Santa Cruz. We won't go into the
weirdness I encountered then....
But one night, you were in town. And I went see you, and ended up sitting
next to your aunt and uncle. Wish I could remember their names, but they were really
nice... although they said they'd seen you so many times, it wasn't as big a deal to them
as it obviously was to me. :}
But you had this really cool shirt on that changed colors as the stage
lights changed.
I was doing Pelican Promotions around... according to the Santa Cruz
Sentinel article I have here, it says August 2, 1978... in an article called
"Entertainment For Those Who Need It". (I found it!) If you want to pick up a copy, there's a gentleman there
who may still be the editor, Dennis Regan I think... he owes me a favor because of some
audio editing I did for him while I worked at KLRS (KSCO) in the 90's... :} Maybe Mark
Marinovich is still there too. Worked with him at the Sears at the Capitola Mall in the
early 70's.
Anyway... it was all about doing a non-alcoholic disco/dance show, mostly
for underage kids to have a place to go to party. Not having alcohol really caused some
problems with the boardwalk people... should have just walked away.
So, I took the night off and watched a really great show. It was the Celebrate Me Home album... which I love... I particularly like that
title track :} My numbers seem to be 667, 4, 40, and 44, or as the letter to Henry says,
4:44. Now if I can only figure out what that means. Do you know what all these numbers
mean? Sacred math? I've been too busy investigating government corruption to look into
that too. But I think I like yours, too.
Some folks from UCLA told me they had an entire video tape about sacred
math, and how it relates to and proves things about the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
That gets covered in the book "History Will Not Absolve Us". Of course, I like
Antony/Anthony Sutton's book "None Dare Call It Conspiracy". He was working at
the Stanford Hoover Institute, and then had a case of conscience, and started writing
books about the Illuminati. He's from Santa Cruz, too.
Strange, thinking about Santa Cruz reminded me of all that.
Enter My Dreams. This sounds like a lot of fun. Now I'm going to have to
go listen to the whole album. Again. And Again. Darn :}
Speaking of which, say hi to Michael McDonald for me... and the Doobies...
had I known what I know now. If you run into Neil, tell him thanks. Are the Smothers still
in Scotts Valley?
Heard this tune tonight... it's beautiful... I'm just going to say I
believe it's about your child. Or your wife. It's great, though.
Kenny
Loggins - No Other Voice. Beautiful stuff. As all your music is. (BTW, I know
you know your name, but I'm making a small concession to the royalty people)
How's Jim, by the way? I have Oasis...
Just so you know, I'm not (Loggins & Messina -) Watching the River Run, anymore, I'm jumping in. Cause This Is It.
(First heard that tune in LA, working at the magazine, went ot do a shift on the air at UC
Irvine... when I did an interview with the Byrds, as a matter of fact.. another
interesting story... all the way down, I kept thinking "Walter O'Malley"... who
died later that day..)
I hope I get to see you when I get home (wherever that is, but then, you
know that story better than I do. :}) Course, you wrote a song about that, didn't you? All
I can say is "I've been so many places in my life and times..." (Leon Russell)
Thanks for the beauty you provide to the world, in your music, and with
your life.
You make a difference.
PS: This'll be a good one. Throw off all the critics. What, no argument
with Kenny Loggins? :} We could start something, though. Could I have your shirt? :} I
mean, heck, it's over 20 years old now anyway... :}
