Dear Leon Russell...
It was back in about 1971 that a sound
engineer for Barbra Streisand came to our theater arts class at Arcata High School in
Arcata, California... I believe his name was John Larson or Lawson...
That's when he brought in his Voice of
the Theater speakers and played us a vidoetape of your PBS special performing the
"Blue Album"... I fell in love with it immediately... wanted to be like you...
such a long story, please bear with me...
Then, he proceeded to do a class
project that I didn't realize was to produce a song... one of mine... called "Puppy
Dog Tails"... "Everything and puppy dog tails, everything is coming up
love now"... which he said he was going to deliver to Barbra Streisand. Who knows if
that actually happened, but given what I'm learning, I believe it probably did.
It was about a year later that Tom T.
Hall came out with I
Love . A similar kind of song...
Over the years, I'm fairly certain I've
bought 9 copies of that Blue Album... kept wearing it out. These days, it, along with Cat
Stevens Father & Son and The Wind.. and so many others... are providing me with
anthems and what I refer to as "The
Soundtrack of My Life".
I've been working on that site...
political ... Masters
of War, ya know... particularly on a book called For the Love of the World. I actually
faxed you a copy of it a few years back.. hope ya got it... The PsyOps have been so
intense it's hard to know if you got a good copy or one of the tainted ones. It was
supposed to come out in 2003.
Nonetheless, I'm putting it back on
line. www.charlesrehn.com and
ForTheLoveofTheWorld.com will be back online in a couple of days. I gotta tell ya, I've
always loved the shades and the hair, kinda emulate you that way right now :} though not
necessarily by choice.
Anyway... I don't quite how to say
this, or even what to do about it :} My Name is Charles Rehn Jr IV... and I am the Prince
of Peace returning... A Song For You touches my heart everytime I hear it.
I don't know what more to say except
thank you so much for your music over the years, the lessons I've learned from you, and
the comfort you have brought me as well. I even named a sweet dog Emily....Say hi to
Willie for me :} We could have fun... we seem to be crazy the same ways... :}
I love you. I hope we meet someday
soon. Thank you so much for never giving up, and your honesty.
God Bless You
Chuck
Rehn - Up on a tightwire....
PS - Your music's on the site,
too, and, I posted a bunch of really bad recordings on the site as well. Look for MyStuff. And try not to cringe too much when you listen :}
