On Mother's Day, 2003, the Global Democratic Citizen's Union , as part of its "Bridges to the World Project" sponsored a Mother's Day Parade in Olympia, Wa.. Events were held in 12 cities across the U.S. in Association with Mothers Acting Up, Jubilee 2000, and the Global AIDS Alliance.

This picture was taken just as I was greeting the audience to the event in the park.   People were just beginning to gather - there were easily 300 people there.

This marked the first time I announced my candidacy publicy (even though I've talked with numerous groups in more intimate settings).  Of course, I made no political speeches... this was about Mother's Day, after all.
